William Saunders is a retired petroleum geoscientist. He graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in geomorphology. He worked in the petroleum exploration and development industry in Calgary, Alberta, Canada from 1978 until 2014.
He is an associate director of The Cydonia Institute along with SPSR member George Haas.
Mr. Saunders has co-authored the following articles, peer-reviewed papers and books related to anomalous formations on Mars:

Position statement: The structures in Cydonia, Mars have little to no erosion and were built as is. They are designed in half, bifurcated and profile form which match designs found on Earth, particularly in ancient Mesoamerican art and sculpture.
